Repeat Prescriptions

We are now using Online Patient Access for ordering your medication. Please complete an Online Access registration form to register.

If you have already registered to use this service you can order your Repeat Prescription Online through EMIS Access by clicking on the link at the top of this page.

Please note our Dispensary Procedures will be changing. We now have Automatic Repeat prescriptions, this means that anything you have repeatedly each month will be automatically generated. If you have items bi-monthly, you will need to communicate your needs for this and we can add and amend as and when needed. To sign up to this, on your next collection please fill out an automatic prescriptions form that you will get from Dispensary

Manual Requests

Please bring or post your repeat prescription slip to the surgery ticking those items you wish to receive. We regret that telephone requests are not possible as mistakes are too easily made.

We are requesting that patients allow at least 4 WORKING DAYS to process your order. Please refer to chart below. For those who are not allowed to use the dispensary, if you wish to have your prescription posted to you, a stamped addressed envelope must be included with the request.

Collections

We are having to make a change to the repeat prescription service we currently offer to our patients.  Due to the constraints of our dispensary it is no longer possible to cope with the demand to provide prescriptions within 48 hours of you placing your order. We will require 4 working days to process your repeat prescription order.  Any requests ordered while the surgery is closed i.e. weekends and Bank Holidays will be treated as if received on the first subsequent working day.

The chart below will help you decide when to order and collect your prescriptions.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
